McGregor moves

BRIGADE are the latest club to strengthen their hand ahead of the new cricket season following confirmation that Gareth McKeegan’s side have completed the signing of batsman Ian McGregor from Coleraine.

McGregor will line up alongside another new face, Ryan Hunter this summer but it is unclear if he will be deployed as an opener by Brigade with Mattie Moran and indeed skipper McKeegan also in the running for top spot.

“I had a season at Brigade in 2000 so to a certain degree this as unfinished business. To be brutally honest I hadn’t planned for this, believing that Coleraine would be my last move,” he stated.

Turning to the fresh challenge McGregor had no doubt this will be a big season in the North West.

“The new 8-team league will certainly make things more competitive although the recent vote for a one up one down is a golden opportunity missed to make it a truly memorable season.

“The Inter-Pro series is likely to mean that players will want to give of their best and that will make the Premiership a tough place to play in. The fact that Brigade seem to be putting together a well balanced side will stand us in good stead and having the experience of winning trophies is also a major plus.

“I would like to think we have enough quality and experience to be competing on all fronts this season.”
