Michael on target for British title fight

LURGAN’S Mixed Martial Arts ace Michael Doyle has finished the year on a winning note after his latest success in Glasgow.

Michael saw off his opponent Danny Henry with a unanimous points decision and is now on target for a crack at the British title back in Glasgow perhaps in May next year.

“I have brought my record up into double figures and am now in line for a shot at the British title,” said Michael. “Then the aim is for the European title if all goes well.

“It is nice to end the year with a win and now start to look forward to what will be a very busy 2013. I am already booked for a number of promotions in Europe with trips to the likes of Saudi Arabia, Finland and Sweden. It’s really a make of break year for me. If all goes well I can hopefully get up into the next grade where the money is.”

Now enjoying a well earned rest from his exploits in the ring, Michael is holding a few coaching sessions in the On Guard Gym on Kitchen Hill, Lurgan each Wednesday night from 7.30pm. He will be delighted to pass on his knowledge of the sport for anyone from the age 16 upwards.

Michael would like to thank his sponsors Stables Bar and Columbia Sport and Fitness who have been a great support to him along the way and also Ciaran Nash for all his support through the year whose training methods are second to none.
