On Saturday at home to league leaders Muckamore, no batsman managed to pass 30 for Matty Jennings side as they slipped to 145 all out in just 36 overs – a total that the visitors passed with 7 wickets to spare.

The home side were surprised to be inserted by the Antrim men and got off to a great start when R Bailey (21) and D Ferris (15) put on 48 for the first wicket in 15 overs.

However, both men were dismissed along with C Lewis and Yogesh before 53 runs were on the board and Muckamore really had their tails up.

Peter Bell at this point joined Andy Kenny and swiftly moved to 28 with 7 x 4s before being bowled.

Andy stayed a while longer in reaching 25 and helped by a couple of big blows later on from Kenny Gilliland (25) saw their team finish on 145.

This total was never going to be enough for a team that has gone 10 league games unbeaten to date and so it proved as they got home with 18 overs to spare. The club would like to thank Stanley Gordon and Sons for donating the match ball.

On Sunday away to bottom placed Laurelvale it was a much different story with Craig Lewis being the star of the show hitting an impressive 152 not out for the Queensway men of just 104 balls.

Solid

Earlier in the visitors innings Ross Bailey and Dean Ferris had again made a solid start and after the latter’s dismissal Bailey went on to hit a fine 54. He along with Yogesh Takawale (56) shared in major partnerships with Lewis as Derriaghy rattled up an impressive 287 for 4 from their 50 overs.

The home side were never able to get near the required run rate and with Stuart McAllister picking up 4 for 23 and Mark Stinson 2 for 25 they were eventually all out for 150.

The two sides face each other again at the same venue this Saturday in the semi final of the Irish National cup sponsored by RSA.

Derriaghy will be hoping for a repeat performance in the semi final and a place in the 25 August decider.
