Narrow defeat for Town thirds

LURGAN thirds went down by 14 runs to CSN fourths at the Gordon Playing Fields.

Although one of the better Gordon Playing Fields wickets, the ankle high grass meant that players of both sides failed to be justly rewarded for any shots played along the ground.

It was still a keenly contested game of cricket with the young thirds bowling well to contain CSN to 106 for six wickets.

Jamie Hunter was the pick of the Lurgan bowlers taking two wickets for 10 runs in five overs with Callum Gibson also returning fine figures of two for 19 off his five overs.

In reply, while Graeme Hunter and Jamie Hunter were at the crease, there was always a chance of victory, but with their dismissal the Lurgan players ran out of strength as much as overs and fell just 14 runs short of their target, finishing on 97 for seven wickets.
