The club got promoted from Section Three last season and ambitions this year are simply to survive.

They get the ball rolling on Sunday, weather permitting, in what could turn out to be one of their biggest games all year.

Millpark are set to host Dundrum at Banford Green and opening batsman Paul McCart knows a win would be a huge step in the right direction.

“It’s all about how we start,” he said. “We have Dundrum and Cooke in our first two home matches. Those are the kind of games we need to be winning.

“We have to target certain matches. A team getting promoted into the Premier League knows they’re unlikely to beat the likes of Arsenal or United. It’s about beating the teams around them. We’re the same.”

Millpark have two new batsmen in the squad for the new season. Last year’s Section Three Player of the Season Mark Coburn and Darren Ross have both joined form Dunmurry.

“We knew the weak side of our game was batting and we’ve improved it so it’s great to be able to do that,” concluded McCart.

Sunday’s game begins at 12 noon at Banford Green.
