When Holywood won the toss they elected to bat on their own patch, but were restricted to a modest 142 scored in 44 overs.

However, the visitors failed to rise to the challenge, when they were skittled out for only 65 in 25 overs, with Jay Hunter, who scored 32, the only batsman to make a significant contribution.

Templepatrick’s bowling figures were: Rhydian Davies 10.1.2.25; Philip Kernoghan 9.1.1.21; Robert Smith 10.2.2.35; Bob Homani 9.1.2.17; Chris Busby 6.0.2.12, and there was one run-out when Mark Thompson scored a direct hit on the stumps.

Skipper Richard Greer said: “It wasn’t a very good wicket, but we didn’t help our cause by bowling 22 wides.”

On Saturday Templepatrick host Mullingar in the first round of the National Cup, and on Sunday they open their Senior League Section 1 programme with an away fixture against Dundrum.
