Rain brings chase to an end

A combination of Templepatrick and the weather beat an understrength Donaghcloney side on Saturday as a rain-affected game at the Factory Ground meant that Duckworth Lewis was called into action for the first time this season.

Templepatrick chose to bat first on what seemed a very decent batting track and while only Carlisle made it over 50 a number of other contributions meant that they put on 246-9 in their 50 overs. Pick of the Donaghcloney bowlers was once again Stevie Hanna who managed six wickets at only 32 runs from his 10 over spell. In reply while Donaghcloney kept the scoreboard ticking over nicely unfortunately wickets were falling at regular intervals, and had reached 143-6 when the rain came, with Mansing Nigade in fine form on 70no and Matthew Lyttle having joined him only overs before and having reached 20.

However the wickets proved to be the downfall, with the DLS target at that point being 173 with six wickets meaning they lost by 30 runs with the rain getting heavier and no sign of ever getting back to the pitch.
