Rain defeats Derriaghy CC as fixtures are called off

Derriaghy Cricket club's fixtures last Saturday were all called off following the heavy rain over the previous few days.

This badly affected the Second XI who are undefeated and top of their league, but who now have two games to rearrange this month.

A third match to rearrange will soon follow on the 16th when the Seconds Intermediate Cup semi final is to be played.

The Seconds have a home game this week against Instonians starting at 12 noon.

The Third XI also sit top of their league with six wins out of six and they too have two games to rearrange now.

This week they travel to Bangor.

Following their Graham Cup win over Lisburn recently Derriaghy Under 15 team have secured support from Ballinderry Road company Ro-Co Auto Solutions.

Last week Colin Rainey from Ro-Co congratulated Jonny Lynch, the team captain, on their fine victory.

Derriaghy now await news on who their opponents will be in the All Ireland final which is due to be played next month.

Club Under 15 player Reece Malone who recorded scores of 111 not out, 96 and 65 in their Graham cup wins has been selected for the Ireland Under 15 team following impressive performances at the Irish Interprovincial Tournament for the NCU last week.

Reece hit 78 against the North West in the first match and followed that up with scores of 25 and 33 and although the third match was abandoned it was enough to give the NCU team the title.

Club Under 17 player Josh Cardosi, who played three games for a NCU squad in England last week has now been selected for the Under 17 Interprovincial Series to be held in the Dublin area on 11th and 12th July.

Everyone at the club sends their congratulates to both Josh and Reece on their achievements.

Elsewhere, the rain got the better of Youth training, and due to the holidays, training will be return on Monday 18th July.

Derriaghy Firsts are due to resume their Premier League campaign on July 16, away to CIYMS.
