Skipper Gaw looking forward to derby clash

IT’S derby day this weekend for Larne Cricket Club as they face Templepatrick at The Cloughan.

For Gareth Gaw’s side it’s a chance to get one over on their Ulster Bank Section Two rivals as they look to build on their recent first league win over Dunmurry.

“The Templepatrick game is one of the fixtures we look out for every year,” Larne skipper Gaw told the Times. “It’s the one you look out for first to see when the game is going to be played.

“There is definitely a rivalry between the two teams on the pitch as we both give our best and always want to win but, off the field, there’s great camaraderie.

“Both clubs have a lot of young players studying exams at the moment, but come Saturday I’m sure we will both be fielding strong sides. A few of our guys have been hampered by injuries of late but we hope to have them back for the game.”
