The club’s fundraising efforts this year will assist both Macmillan Cancer Support and the Parents and Friends of the Donkey Sanctuary.

“As a community club we decided that we should use our fundraising efforts to not only provide sporting opportunities for people of all ages, but also to help a couple of charities that do great work in the local area,” the club’s marketing officer, Peter Shepherd explained.

“We invited proposals from members to identify potential partners and our committee decided on Macmillan Cancer and the Donkey Sanctuary’s Parents and Friends Association.

“Our regular fundraising events, which we run throughout the year, will be directly supporting the work of our chosen charitable partners.”

The Donkey Sanctuary’s Donkey Assisted Therapy Centre, which is located near Templepatrick, uses rescued donkeys to provide riding therapy sessions for children with additional needs and disabilities.

“We would like to thank Templepatrick Cricket Club for choosing us as a charity partner for the current season and look forward to working with them in the future,” said Ruth Moore of the Parents and Friends Association.

Macmillan Cancer provides practical, emotional and financial support to cancer patients and their families across Northern Ireland.

Maria Small, Macmillan’s fundraising manager, also thanked the club for choosing Macmillan as a charity partner.
