The Ballymena reply got off to a nervous start and they soon found themselves in trouble on 62 for 6 but Boyd kept a cool head and finished on 50 not out, bringing the side home with over 25 overs to spare, winning by four wickets.

The Thirds will play Bangor Thirds in the Final on August 21.

This week the Thirds travel to Woodvale on Wednesday evening and then entertain Lisburn at Eaton Park on Saturday.

Both these games must be won if Ballymena hope to retain their league title.
