Tyrone men move into pole position

STRABANE have one hand on the Billy Henderson Senior One title after defeating one of their main rivals Brigade at Beechgrove on Saturday, they have two games remaining at home to Glendermott and away to St Johnston.

Their nearest rivals Bready lost to Donemana, on Monday night, while there were wins for Glendermott at Coleraine and Fox Lodge at St Johnston. On Sunday, Limavady had an easy win at Eglinton.

Eglinton v St Johnston

This game will probably decide which team will be playing Senior Two cricket next season. Both sides have won just one game all season, Eglinton having defeated the Donegal men away while St Johnston's only success was a win over Strabane.

Eglinton may be missing opening bowler Johnny Gardiner which will be a blow for their hopes, home advantage may swing it the villagers' way.

Prediction: Eglinton.

Coleraine v Limavady

Wilson Torrens' side have slumped in the second half of the season but their early form saved them from being involved in a relegation fight, the experience they have gained will stand to them in the future.

Limavady would probably have won the league if they hadn't to play all their games away from home, they will want to finish on a high.

Prediction: Limavady.

Fox Lodge v Donemana

Pride is all that is at stake in this one, there is always a close rivalry between both teams, the Foxies were so close to making this their best season ever but the departure of professional Darryl Brown was to much to handle.

Donemana are reportedly going to bring in an old boy from years gone by for next season and if that were to happen they will be back among the elite watch this space.

Prediction: Fox Lodge.

Strabane v Glendermott

The red caps would be worthy champions after sharing the title last season; they control their own destiny and they are to good a side to throw it away. Young players like Ryan Gallagher and Tommy Barr have come on leaps and bounds as the season has progressed.

The Rectory men will be anxiously waiting on the North West disciplinary meeting tomorrow night when two of their players reported by the umpires in the game against Brigade a couple of weeks ago will know their fate: they may not be at full strength.

Prediction: Strabane.

Bready v Brigade

These two clubs' title hopes were dashed last weekend, when both suffered defeats.

They must now depend on leaders Strabane slipping up and losing one of their last two games.

However both clubs will be pushing to at least finish in the runners up spot. Bready have had an excellent season under skipper David Leckey's guidance.

The Beechgrove men can look back on a reasonable campaign, with claiming the Northern Bank Senior Cup as their main highlight.

Prediction: Bready.
