There was plenty of local interest. The Northern Ireland Fire Service team of Harbinson-Simpson finished their WPFG tournament losing 21-10 to the German team of Dahlmann-Steinke. They end up ranked 7th in the Men’s 40-49 Bracket.

They were the fans favourites throughout the two days as the crowds flocked to watch the very entertaining NI team. Despite not winning any of their matches they won the hearts and minds of the local supporters and their fellow international competitors. The NI pair thoroughly enjoyed the competition and even though they only started playing the day before the tournament they did amazing well.

A spokesperson said “It was great to see such a huge crowd supporting the local guys and watching beach volleyball, they all seem to have really enjoyed it.”
