Crowds go home happy as festival is a success

AFTER a year of planning Banbridge's newest music festival finally took place - and visitors to Take It To The Bridge were not disappointed.

A fantastic day of music, headlined by the Futureheads, and craic was had by everyone at Corbet Lough for the inaugral festival.

And the bad weather, which had threatened to spoil Saturday's fun, thankfully stayed away to allow festival goers the chance to lie-out in the field.

"It's been a brilliant day; very well organised indeed," said one reveller.

"The fact that they have been able to attract a band of the calibre of the Futureheads was a credit to the organisers and I hope that if the festival is back next year there will be another quality line-up."

"You have to remember that Glastonbury started out as just a few bands playing in a field - a lot like this," said another concert goer. "I think that once word of mouth spreads about how good a time we all had at the first festival, then if it was to happen again next year, there would be an even bigger crowd."

The well behaved crowd enjoyed music from the Complete Stone Roses and top Belfast band And So I Watched You From Afar before the headline act took to the stage.

Earlier in the day local bands took to the stage in the Battle of the Bands competition to win a day in a recording studio and to have their song on the playlist on Cool FM.
