Crucial away victory for Victoria

It was the Dungannon Captain who won the toss and opted to make the Victoria men bowl first. It was the Victoria men had the grip on the game as the opening pair of Captain Gray and 3rd XI Captain Johnston, made the most of the slightly green wicket, picking up the first three wickets two for Gray and one for Johnston.

The Ball tossed again and Gilpin the main spinner for the day, began what was to be a great spell of tight and well controlled bowling, on his way to picking up 2-10.

He was ably backed up from the other end by the ever reliable Bunting who set off in his usual fashion of tying up the runs and waiting for the batsmen to make their mistakes, in which they came in three as he picked up 3-15.

The innings was well wrapped up by K Maxwell as he picked up two wickets in 3 balls of his only over of the match, thanks to a spectacular catch at short mid-wicket, by K. Dempster.

The Victoria Innings got off to a shaky start with Parks spooning a catch up to cover off only the 4th ball of the innings. This bringing in Gray which was the demise of the other opener Black as he was run out after a silly call from Gray.

This joining Dempster and Gray who began to set the nerves of the Victoria men aside. As they began to punish any bad balls and be patient with the good.

Dempster looked to put any full balls away and doing ably so as he struck 11 form an over, Gray on the other end was more comfy waiting for the short ball as he struck four boundaries off the back foot before dispatching a full toss for the winning runs as Dempster finished on 26no and Gray 24no.
