Crushing victory for Inst Medallion over Banbridge Academy

COLERAINE Inst Medallion had a resounding 75-0 victory over Banbridge Academy on Saturday morning.

Although Inst were missing key players due to injury including prop John McLean, hooker Kieran Burns and back rower Ryan Welsh, they were too strong for a poor Banbridge team.

The Coleraine boys played some very exciting and attractive rugby and showed discipline by managing to stick to their game plan and structure.

The forwards again dominated at scrum and lineout, providing excellent ball for Jack Farrell at scrum half. Reuben Simpson, Mark Gordon and Thomas Pethick all had solid games, spurring the rest of the pack on.

The backs produced an excellent display of hard running and good handling to overpower the opposition on a number of occasions.

Joel Stanbridge and Luke Scott had impressive games in the centre and Alross Alejo, making his first start of the season, showed great promise and benefited greatly from the fast paced game on Saturday.

After half term the boys will start to build and prepare for the Medallion Shield and will look to continue their run of good form.

The Medallion’s next fixture is against Ballymena Academy.
