BANBRIDGE Rangers’ Bob Radcliffe Cup ended on Saturday past with a comprehensive defeat away at Rathfriland Rangers.

After conceeding an early penalty the Banbridge side held much of the possession and territory in the opening 20 minutes but but were hit by a swift counter attack and went 2-0 down.

Things went from bad to worse for the Banbridge side when Chambers was dismissed for an over zealous challenge with Rathfriland taking full advantage of any mistakes and took a 5-0 lead into the interval.

In the second half Banbridge Rangers went for containment with Rathfriland adding two goals to their first half tally in a disspointing encounter for the Banbridge team with Rathfriland progressing into the quarter finals.

Banbridge Rangers now face an even tougher task this week when the travel to take on Killyleagh YC in the first round of the Irish Cup.
