Cups provide finale inthe Provincial League

BALLYNURE Old Boys play Dunloy in the McReynolds Cup final tomorrow (Friday) at Allen Park, Antrim (kick-off 7.00pm)

And last night (Wednesday) Kilbride Swifts were to play Brantwood in the final of another big Ballymena and Provinicial Football League competititon, the Crawford Cup.

With the three league divisions decided, applications are invited from teams wishing to be considered for membership in the 2010/11 season. They should contact the secretary on 028 2564 4326 or 07718 809 314 for details. It is planned to decide in June the format of the junior divisions for the new season.

Kilbride took an early lead with Steve Turner scoring on the 4th minute, bit it was not until the 50th minute that Mark Kidd cliamed their second.

The home team conceded an own goal five minutes later, but as Ballycastle tried hard to get the equaliser Kidd scored again and Jordan Kernohan added another to kill off their hopes.

Clough finished off their season with this win, though Kilbride had their chances during a closely fought game.

Clough went in one up at half-time with a goal scored by Adie McDonald. The second half saw little between the teams other than the goal scored by Ross Steele in the 72nd minute.

Both teams had a chance to score early in the game before Ricky Moore put Newtownabbey in front on the 30th minute and at half-time this goal still separated the teams.

Carniny pushed forward during the second half and got a deserved equaliser when mark McAllister scored on the 86th minute. This goal took the game into extra-time and then with penalty kicks looming, Jackie Moore scored a scorcher of a goal to win the game.

The Sevens got off to a cracking start in this game when Sam Davidson scored on the third minute and followed up with his second goal 13 minutes later.

Half-time saw Newtownabbey still two goals clear but Conor McKenna scored for Ballymoney on the 61st minute and David Nicholl scored the equaliser on the 65th minute.

Newtownabbey got their noses in front again when Dave Ramsey scored on the 68th minute and though Ballymoney tried hard this goal took Newtownabbey through to the final.
