Cushendall win to book final place

Feis Cup Senior Hurling CUSHENDALL qualified to meet Dunloy in the Senior Hurling Final at Feis na nGleann when they beat Loughgiel in Wednesday evening's semi-final at Pairc MacUilin, Ballycastle.

An early goal from full-forward Karl McKeegan settled Cushendall, and they were the better team for most of the first-half as a serried of excellent points from top scorer Shane McNaughton, Paddy McNaughton and Neil McManus helped them to a 1-11 to 0-7 half-time lead.

A Liam Watson point from a free, from inside his own half, just after the restart lifted Loughgiel spirits, but three on the trot from Shane McNaughton, two from frees and one from play, gave Cushendall a safe cushion.

The Loughgiel defence did well to restrict Cushendall to just one point during the closing quarter, but the 'Ruairis' were always able to hold the Shamrocks safely at arm's length and they easily secured a final meeting with Dunloy at Feis na nGleann on July 4th.
