CYCLING: Locals get on their bikes for the Carn Wheelers Tour of South Derry

ON Sunday past in perfect weather conditions, Carn Wheelers hosted their third Tour of South Derry.

Around 350 cyclists, from various clubs and leisure cyclists took part, helping raise over 6,000 for MacMillan Cancer Support.

The club wish to thank Magherafelt GAA club for the use of their facilities for registration, catering and changing facilities. Also to the MacMillan staff who helped everything run smoothly and that everyone was well fed.

Thanks to those who supplied medical support, those who drove the support vehicles, acted as marshalls, manned the pit stop in Moneyneana and also the press photographers who helped promote our event.

There would be no event without cyclists, so the club appreciate the support they got including the other cycling clubs who were present.

Thanks also to Carn Wheelers members who helped in the running of the event, especially Brendan Niblock and Mickey Donnelly who are the driving force behind the Tour of South Derry. They planned everything perfectly, even the weather. We just hope the Tour De France organisers don't poach them from us!

Carn Wheelers would like to thank the generosity of the event sponsors:
