Foyle Cycling Club's highly popular '˜Sprocket Rocket' cycling programme, aimed at 4-12 year olds, wheels back into action in St. Columb's Park this Saturday, at 1.45pm.

The 15-week programme focuses on delivering basic cycling skills to younger people, in a safe environment, with an emphasis on fun and participation.

Co-ordinated locally by Foyle’s qualified coaches, the series helps children advance their pedalling, balance, braking and cornering techniques through organised weekly sessions.

Senior Coach Rhonda Reilly, who manages the programme, said it was a great opportunity for children to be introduced to cycling.

“St Columb’s Park and its extensive greenway network is an ideal location for this event,” she explained, “Children have been coming regularly for several years and coming into spring, we hope it encourages them to be active outdoors in a fun environment.”

The programme costs £15 per child with availability limited to 40 places. If you would like your child to participate in the 90 minute sessions, contact: Rhonda Reilly at [email protected] or by telephone at 0789 4295218. All children must wear a cycling helmet.
