Cycling: Watson wins but Barnes steals the show at Loup

David Watson (North Down) beat A.Swann (Ballymoney CC) and D.Hamilton (North Down) to win the main race at the Cicli Sport Grand Prix at the weekend over the Loup-Springhill-Tamlaght circuit.

Watson is currently one of Ulsters most prolific riders having arrived a the Cicli Sport after placing third Overall in the prestigious Tour of the North Stage Race at Easter an event he won in 2015.

The highlight for the promoting club, however, was Harvey Barnes winning the A3 Event narrowly outsprinting another talented teenager, Conor McCann, the son of renown roadman Chris.

East Tyrone’s Ellie Kelso and Jessica McComb placed second and third in U14 Girls.

Harvey Barnes and Ellie Kelso rounded off in fine style at PJ Logan Event at Coalisland, Harvey second in A3 and Ellie winning the U14 Girls Event.

Finally the Performance Nutrition Plus Time Trial League is this Thursday 7th April with a 5 Mile Event on the Omagh Road starting at 7pm.
