Cyclists out inforce for annualAghagallon Cup

There were lots of cyclists around the Bartins Bay area of Aghagallon last Sunday for the annual Aghagallon Cup races.

For the organising club, Clann Eireann, the youth section of the club were having their first competitive outing of the year, and several of the Clann’s boys and girls did exceptionally well.

Kieran Cahoon rode to a great second place in his under 14 race, as did Mark Keenan in the novice race.

Among the girls, it was the O’Neill sisters from Derrymacash taking the applause, when Erin O’Neill beat most of the boys to come second in the under 14 event, and her little sister Clodagh actually won the novice race.

The Senior race over ten laps of the three mile circuit was hotly contested by over sixty entrants, but around the halfway point Newtownards strongman Stephen Limmer went ahead alone and by the end had more than a minute on hand over the large chasing group.
