Cyclists set for fifth Annual Tour of South Derry

ON Sunday 14th October, local cycling club Carn Wheelers will hold their 5th Tour of South Derry, an event run in conjunction with MacMillan Cancer Support which has now raised over £20,000.

We would like to thank all t hose who have supported the event over the years and we look forward to hosting another successful event this year.

The event starts from Magherafelt’s Rossa Park GAA Grounds and this year has 2 routes. The normal 50mile route and also a shorter 37mile route that misses out some of the hills.

TOUR TE DONEGAL

Once again Carn Wheelers had a successful end of season trip to Donegal recently.

The weather was glorious both days with a party of around 30 travelling to Bunbeg in Gweedore.

This trip is now well established in the cycling calendar and is a great team bonding event for the club. We stayed at the Seaview Hotel and the club provided a beautiful and much needed 4 course dinner.

Then everyone headed for a few hours (some for more hours than others) to the various local night spots.

In the morning, after breakfast we headed off back home. Thanks to Darren once again for organising it and for Claire and Tommy for providing transport for bikes and gear etc.

We can start looking forward to next year already.

MEETING

There will be a club meeting on Thursday night 9.00pm in An Carn. All members are encouraged to come along so we can finalise all details for the Tour of South Derry.
