Dalriada juniors in action

WITH the seniors completing fixtures for the season the junior sides finished off their fixtures on Saturday.

The under 13s and under 14s both took on Foyle College and recorded strong victories.

The under 12s played in the CAI tournament and came through their group to make the quarter finals.

At home the under 14s recorded an impressive 43-0 victory over Foyle a team they beat earlier in the season away.

Tries came from Peter Dunlop (2), Henry Loan, Ryan Malcolmson, Adam Barton, Ross Johnston and Timmy Emerson who also kicked four conversions.

This finished off a very impressive season were they have only been beaten on a handful of occasions.

The under 13s scored an excellent 48-5 win.

Foyle could not really cope with the fast flowing play that Dalriada showed throughout.

They managed to score seven tries and with Kicker Rory Strang slotting five conversions and a drop goal they capped off their season in style.

Robert Hunter scored an impressive three tries, Scott McCaw the speedy winger got two as did centre Aaron Sparkes.

The under 12s played in the CAI tournament and performed with great spirit and skill. In their first game they came up against Ballymena Academy and recorded a 10-0 victory, with Allan Montgomery scoring and Matthew Kernohan kicking a conversion and penalty.

Next up they faced a very strong Campbell College side and went down by two tries.

The final group game was against Bangor Grammar and in a tight game they came out victors with a 7-0 victory, Aaron Eyemere scoring the try and Matthew Kernohan slotting the conversion.

As runner up in their group they now faced the winners of another group and were drawn against Blackrock College probably the strongest team there.

The boys played very well but struggled against the pace and power and went down by three tries. The under 12s now look forward to next Saturday were they take on a touring team from Scotland.
