DALRIADA 66 LARNE GRAMMAR 0

THIS was a sensational day for Dalriada rugby.

Last Saturday all of Dalriada’s teams played Larne GS and managed a clean sweep of victories. Indeed they never conceded a point in any game; the 1st XV playing at home won comfortably 66-0 while the 2ndXv were run away winners 85-0.

On the road again were the Junior teams and each team won comfortably. The medallion despite carrying a large injury list were easy winners. The score was 68-0 after only being 29-0 at half time, hat trick of tries came from Thomas Hunter and Scott Gamble all contributing to the 12 try victory.

Last Saturday Dalriada U14 rugby team travelled to Larne Grammar School and recorded an impressive win by 37 points to nil. This was a good team performance with the forwards playing extremely well in the loose and the backs looking dangerous at every opportunity.

In the second half ten changes were made to the Dalriada team but it did not weaken the performance in any way. In the forwards Xanders Wilmont, Griffin Phillipson and Jacob Butcher were outstanding while the new pairing of Stewart Moore at out half and Captain Conor Creith was very effective.

Next week Dalriada entertain Belfast Royal Academy and hopes are high that another victory will be secured.

Dalriaa had a convincing winning margin of 31-0 scoring 5 tries. However after an initial good start Dalriada made hard work of a one sided encounter. They were two scores to the good in the first five minutes when the forwards ran in two tries from their own half. The first one, Conor Clarke sprinted away from the half-way line and the second was a near replica, this time Peter Wright scoring. Jude Black kicked the conversion. The result was never in jeopardy but Dalriada took their foot of the gas. Henry Ross picked up two tries when the ball went blind from the scrum with Henry putting down in the corner, with the conversions added to make the half time score 26-0

The second half was a lot scrappier with Larne coming back into the contest. Dalriada made a few changes both positional and personal with everybody playing at least a half. Special mention to Jack Nevin and Lewis McAuley who had to play for Larne as they were short of players. Lack of discipline in the second half let the game fizzle out. Jacob Fleck added the only score in the second half. A couple of scores were missed as players hung onto the ball too long instead of passing early to the support
