Dalriada team up with Tesco

DALRIADA School footballers had cause to celebrate last week during the inaugural Football Festival held in the School sports hall.

Play with the Pros part of the programme saw Irish league stars Stephen Carson, Darren Boyce, Howard Beverland and Paul Gaston take part in a small sided tournament with boys from Year 8 and Year 9 teams.

Stage two of the highly successful Player Improvement Programme for players of the Year 9 team, was also included in the activities. Stage one took place last term, when the players filled out their self assessment form.

Stage two involved a personal interview/discussion with their coach Mr Getty, where a pathway for the future was discussed.

Undoubtedly, the highlight of the day was the official launch of the excellent sponsorship package with local supermarket giants Tesco.

The idea was kicked off by a parent of one the players, Mr Graham Sparks, when he approached Tesco with regards to the sponsorship package- a piece of superb team work all round!

Dalriada would like to thank Mr Sparks for his involvement in this venture.

The deal includes two new playing kits for the Year 8, Year 9 teams and also the Year 10, Year 11 teams.

Colin Hampsey, Corporate Affairs Manager for Tesco said: "We are delighted to be able to support Dalriada with the purchase of a new playing kit, and we wish them well in their efforts on the pitch throughout the year ahead.

"As part of our ongoing strategy to support young people to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle, this sponsorship further underpins our commitment in supporting events in the local community."

Mr.Tom Skelton, Headmaster, thanked Tesco for their generosity and also the fact that such a leading company are promoting a local school, was a fantastic gesture and one really appreciated by everyone at Dalriada.
