DARTS: Clean Sweep for Sperrin and Villa

On a night that brought about a number of large victories it was the Sperrin Flights and the Villa who stood out from the rest with both teams winning 8-0 in their matches.

Sperrin Flights travelled to Floyds B and although they were missing a few of their best players still managed to leave with an 8-0 win without dropping a single leg of darts. Villa meanwhile where hosting Scotch House and although they too won 8-0 this was a much closer contest than the score would suggest with all but two of the eight games going to a deciding leg.

The Thatch made it two wins out of two with a resounding 7-1 win over Floyds A while Social Club also recorded back to back wins with a 5-1 win over Cooleys where both teams missing players on the night. Villa Swifts got their season up and running with an excellent 7-1 victory over Railway Arms and Berthas bounced back from last weeks defeat to win 7-1 over Kellys Inn.

Individual performance of the week goes to Martin Barr (Villa Swifts) who defeated Kevin Scanlon with legs in 15 and 18 darts as well as a 100 checkout. New Northern Ireland Team Manager Davy Glenn (Villa Swifts) was also playing well winning his game with legs in 17 and 20 darts while Stephen Pinkerton (Sperrin Flights) had the best individual leg with a 14 darter.

Highest Checkout of the week goes to Jarlath McGarry (Villa) who hit an excellent 111 (20, T19, D20), Martin Barr with 100 had the only other high checkout of the week.

There were only the two 180s thrown this week by David O’Hara (Thatch) and Stephen Campbell (Social Club) though Stephen Pinkerton threw a 177 and Eugene Doherty (Cooleys) hit 2 x 171s.

League Meeting

There will be a League Meeting of the Coleraine Thursday Night Darts League on Thursday 20 September at 7.45pm in the Roost Bar, Coleraine. All teams wishing to enter the League this year must attend this meeting as this will be the last meeting before the start of the new season. Registration Fee of £25 must also be paid at this meeting. The Format for the coming season will be as before four players per team playing four games of singles and two games of pairs, Registration Fee allows for seven players to register to a team.
