Keady should have opened the score on 20 minutes but the striker it over from inside the box.

Slane hit the target on the half hour when Sterritt swung a free into the box which flew straight into the net at the back post.

Two minutes later Slane went two up when Thomas McCann hit the byline and swung the ball deep into the back post where Mark Anderson nipped in to poke the ball home.

Two minutes into the second half Gibbons hit a free kick just over the top. Slane had a goal disallowed because Anderson was in an off side position.

Andy Rowan was shoved over in the box and Slane were awarded a spot kick. Sterritt stepped up to convert.

With three minutes to go Keady hit the target with a long throw that was poked into the back of the net.

Slane were under pressure in the dying minutes but held on for a good victory.

Overall a good performance by Slane and man of the match was John Davenport who was brilliant on the day, breaking up the left hand side of midfield and firing tackle after tackle in at the back.
