“On the final whistle it was happiness all around; everybody was delighted. A lot of the guys have been at the club for a long time and never really won anything, so it just resonated the whole way through the team. It was a fantastic feeling.”

Cavan took an early lead from a penalty in Saturday’s encounter, but 3-0 down at half-time, Ophir never looked back after the interval.

Neil Gray got the ball rolling before tries from Davis (two), James Milligan, Steven Hastings put them in the drivinjg seat. Gray’s second score got the celbrations under way.

“The aim is still the same,” Davis added. “We have targeted the league, we had a good run in the cup and were knocked out by a strong Holywood side. After that we were counting down the games until the end of the season to clinch the league and now we are in the position that we can actually push for an unbeaten run. It’s been unheard of for a long time at our club. It’s really something that we want to achieve and I think we can do it.”
