Davison takes the win on the dusty trails of Dublin’s Djouce Woods

The first round of the Irish XC National Points Series took place at Djouce Woods in Dublin, and Dromara CC was well represented.

It’s a venue that has been used several times over the years for mountain biking.

With good weather leading into the race, the trails remained dry and dusty making for a tough day’s racing.

In the Junior race Peter Davison was riding in the Dromara jersey and rode a cracking race to cross the line in first place after four laps of racing. As this was the first round of the NPS, Peter now holds the leaders’ jersey for the series and will wear it going into the next round where he will hope to defend his lead at the top.

Barry Van Kellett was the sole rider for Dromara in the S1 race which was won by former Olympian Robin Seymour. Barry rode to an excellent sixth place in this race that had over 25 starters with five laps to complete.

Robert Davison and David Broome rode in the S3 race with Robert finishing 45th and David an excellent 11th.

Well done to the riders who travelled down to Dublin for the race and well done to Peter for taking the win and the series lead going into the next round.
