Edwin May of Coleraine handed over the keys to a brand new Volkswagen Scirocco as part of a sponsorship support package for the Ireland rugby international, which will also see him cutting the ribbon to officially launch the company’s refurbished showroom on May 22nd.

And Coleraine-born Trimble created a buzz of excitement when he visited Volkswagen’s Riverside Retail Park dealership to collect his car.

Edwin May’s Raymond Smyth said: “Andrew is a real local hero and was the obvious choice to help us with the official opening of our redesigned and rebuilt showroom – not least because his parents are valued customers.

“As a business dedicated to serving the local community, we focus on nurturing genuine relationships with our customers, and we are delighted to be supporting Coleraine’s own sporting star.

“Andrew is a lovely, friendly guy and all of the staff were thrilled and proud to meet him.

“There were a lot of ‘selfies’ being taken that day!”

Trimble, 29, received his international call-up to the Ireland team in 2005 and plays his club rugby for Ulster.

Raymond added: “His liveried Scirocco offers him practicality and performance, perfect for his daily life as a family man and travelling to the training ground. I’m sure he will love driving it.”

Edwin May’s eye-catching modern facilities replicate the contemporary concept adopted by Volkswagen retailers across the UK.

The building design harnesses natural light and clean lines to improve the customer experience. The showroom has doubled in size, now able to display up to ten different models, as well as offering a comfortable hospitality area, and there is an extended used car display space.

Raymond said: “We have invested a significant sum of money to expand our business and make the complete retail and servicing experience more pleasurable for customers.

“The level of investment demonstrates Edwin May’s continued commitment as a key employer in Coleraine, delivering exceptional customer service.”
