Dean is Ulster champion

It’s been quite a rise to prominence for Dean, who started quad racing when he was just six-years-old.

He started racing on a Suzuki LT50 and progressed to a Suzuki 80cc on which he became County Down champion in October 2012.

Having won the championship Dean then took the next step to the 110cc series, racing a Proshark which is an automatic but still extremely fast.

Dean worked extremely hard over the winter and during 2013 season, training twice a week to improve his fitness and endurance.

All this hard work stood him in good stead. He rode exceptionally well all season despite having had a few mechanical problems.

Competition was very stiff right up to the very end but Dean took the chequered flag as Ulster Junior Quad Champion on September 14.

Dean is looking forward to another successful season in quads, setting his sights next year on the Irish Championship racing in Wexford, Limerick and Cork.

Team 36’s other riders include Gary Dillon, age 15, who was 200cc Ulster Champion 2012 and newest rider six-year-old Ross Dillon who just started at the end of August racing in the 50cc class.

Not content with just being petrolheads, Gary Dean and Ross are also dedicated rugby players.
