Dean's a chip off the old block

DEAN McLaughlin topped the Portstewart Club's turkey charts on Saturday with a super return of 44 points.

Playing off seventeen, Dean birdied the eighth in his front nine, which yielded 20 points, but the back nine was even better.

A two over par gross gave up another 24 points to allow Dean to claim the sweep as well as the turkey. Three shots were removed from his handicap and grandad Paddy McLaughlin now reckons Dean definitely can’t beat the ould boy now!

Two of the 40 pointers claimed the final turkeys, these were Trevor Nutt, with a great back nine adding 24 points to the card, and John Rowan who scored 22 back.
