DROMORE Ladies entertained Larne at Holm Park in their last home league game of the season.

Dromore went into the game without two strikers and Dani Creaney in goals for the injured Laura Magowan.

Just to add to the home team’s problems Loiuse Kelly would not get to the ground until half time due to work commitments.

Also missing was manager Roger McCartan who was serving the second of his three game ban so it was left to assistant manager Davy Welshman and Neil McMurray to rally the team in his absence.

Dromore had already beaten Larne 3-0 earlier in the season and went into the game on the back of winning their last two games.

Both teams found it hard to play football on the greasy pitch with the ball at times being just slightly over hit. Dromore's Kerry Taggart was the obvious threat up front and with support from Nikki Clements and Amy-Lou Graham the three began to dictate the game.

Larne found themselves being pushed deeper into their own half without the home team really troubling them too much. For all the home team’s possession it was Larne who carved out a few half chances, on both occasions though their long range shots were well dealt with by Dani who didn’t look out of place in goals.

With 27 minutes on the clock Larne forced a corner and their tall midfielder managed to lose Tracy and score with a close range header, giving Dani no chance.

The only other notable part of a dull first half was Dee Lindsay getting booked for a challenge and then, with only a few minutes remaining, almost getting a second yellow.

Davy and Neil decided to make a few changes at the break with Laura making way for Louise and Dee going up front and Emma slipping back into defence.

With the changes made the home team settled and began to play the football that has pushed them to the brink of a play off place, Amy-Lou, now back in midfield with Lauren, began to pull the strings.

With 55 minutes on the clock the game was level. A great through ball found Nikki and while Larne stopped and appealed for an offside Nikki calmly slotted the ball past the keeper and into the bottom corner.

It should have been 2-1 to the home team six minutes later, a great corner saw Tracy head a power full header over the keeper to the back post were the defender managed to clear it but from behind the line.

The home team were now well on top with Dee and Kerry causing all kinds of problems for the away defence. Kerry went close twice but just couldn’t keep her shot down.

Dromore finally got their reward when Dee beat her marker and from all of 35 yards hit a screamer which flew over the Larne keeper and into the roof of the net.

Larne to their credit kept going and Dani twice had to race off her line to deny them an equaliser. With only minutes to go, and after another great save by Dani, Larne forced a free kick on the edge of the home box. Dani had got injured in the build up so Fi donned the gloves.

Fi not only managed to save the free kick but she also held onto the ball as the Larne players advanced on her. With only seconds remaining Larne again forced Fi into a double save, the first one she palmed down and then with the Larne players bearing down on her she dived bravely at their feet to gather the ball.

As she launched the ball high into the Larne half the ref blew his whistle and the home team emerged victorious.

Another great fight back and team spirit shown by the girls as they came back to win again. Their home record this year showed P7 W6 L1.

Best for Dromore was both their keepers - who did an admirable job making crucial saves to ensure another home win - and Dee who scored a fantastic winner.
