Ballymena travelled to play table topping Ulster Transport in the latest round of league matches and although they put up a spirited performance it was the home team who claimed victory.

On rink 1 Roy Kernohan, Jackie Barr, Paul Davidson and Billy Scullion made a good start against A Dilworth and after 6 ends they lead by 10 shots to 3. The home rink however dominated the remainder of the match and the Ballymena men were only able to score on one more end as the Ulster Transport rink ran out winners by 22 shots to 12.

Ken Connell, Robert Mark, Leslie Jackson and Jim Cameron also settled down well against the Ulster Transport rink skipped by D Thompson on rink 2 winning the first 4 ends to lead 7-0. The Braid rink continued to lead right up until the fifteenth end, however the game changed on the next end when they conceded a count of 6 shots which helped the home rink snatch victory by 16 shots to 15.

On rink 3 Eddie Leckey, Dessie Shaw, Liam Lyness, and John Greer had a close game with M Trew and with two ends remaining the scores were level at 18-18, but it was the visiting Ballymena rink who claimed victory when they scored 4 shots over the remaining ends to win by 22 shots to 18.

Joe Kyle, Tommy Crooks, Don McKee and Harold Smyth found themselves 6 shots ahead after 5 ends against D Simpson on rink 4, however the home rink chipped away at the Ballymena lead and took the lead themselves when they scored 3 shots on the twelfth end. With 3 ends remaining the visitors trailed by 2 shots, but scores of 1,2 and 1 saw the Braid foursome claim victory by 17 shots to 15.
