Dent is put in Park Inn's Championship hopes

YOUNG Guns, after being 2-0 up, had to depend on the last pairs game to earn a point but this dropped point puts a dent in the Park’s Championships challenge

David Wilton and Fiona McQuiggan were first to the oche and the Guns top thrower was in form with scores of 100, 140 and 99. A double 10 on 19 darts left Fiona needing 238 and another good game from David (100, 100) with a 20 darter left Fiona (119) with 138 on the board.

Michael Kennedy (140) found himself trailing to Lindsay McFadden (100, 98) after the first leg but a double 10 in leg two left Lindsay needing 142

The deciding leg was proving to be double trouble for both throwers Lindsay leaving double two when Michael (100) finished on double six.

Mark Gracey (121, 95) was on the double first against Nigel Kerr (3x100) and looked like taking the lead but in came Nigel with a good 104 finish to take the lead. In the next leg it was Mark (125) that was trailing and Nigel (100) opened Parks score with double top.

At the halfway stage the score was 2-2. Guns captain Gareth Moody had no chance against Gareth Chambers (100, 125) and was left on 271 when Gareth (100, 125) with 21 darts took the lead. Gareth (100) put up no fight and was left on 130 when Gareth (3x100) finished.

After the break Young Guns regained their lead, Richard McKee coming out on top against Noel Gates after trailing after leg one.

Richard (100, 100) was left on tops when Noel (100, 121, 100) took the lead but missed tops in leg two from Noel (100) saw Richard (140, 100) level on 19 darts.

Leg three was another good game. Noel (125) missed double 20 only to see Richard (100, 140) check out on 20 darts for game.

At the end of the singles the game was 3-3. Douglas Andrew (100), after being left on 115, fought back to beat John McKee (96, 100) 2-1, leaving the latter needing 86 in leg three.

PAIRS - Richard McKee (100) and David Wilton (100) beat Andrew Douglas (100) and Noel Gates 2-1 but Gareth Chambers (100/95, 100) and Noel Kerr (121/95) beat Mark Gracey and Michael Kennedy (127/95) to earn a draw.

Halfway House 6

Halfway House continue the push for honours with a 6-2 victory over Top of the Town who got of to a good start Christopher Dillon(125.100) with a good win over Jim Brown

Game two saw David Hanna trail in both legs to visiting captain Derek Reid (100,140,128 21 darts/100) but game three and the Town were level Jason Hamill beating Tom Alder dice (99) 2-0

At the break the teams were level Billy Leckey was out of form losing to Willy Herdman (100)

After the break Halfway went on to win the remaining four games Victor Smith (140,100) back after his travels beat Towns Steven Weir (100) Tony McIntyre (125,100/100) beat Tommy Graham (140) 2-0.

PAIRS - Victor Smith (99/95) and Derek Reid (96) beat A Burns (100/115) and Christopher Dillon 2-0 and Willy Herdman and Tony McKinstry beat Jason Hamill and Billy Leckey 2-0.

Halfway Aces keep there title hopes on track with this home win over Red Star B.

Brian Graham (101/100) found it tough in leg one against Antoinette Barry but left the latter on 133 when he made the score 2-0.

Roy Livingston (101/100) had a 2-0 victory over Jacqui Wilson (97) and home captain Neville Reid (95/100, 95) gave his team a 3-0 lead, beating Gareth Crothers (95) 2-0 with Gareth needing 134 and 34.

The last game of the half saw Colin Crothers of the Star in form against Brian Reid. Gareth (140,100), with a 64 finish on 21 darts, left Brian on 236 and after steady throwing in the next leg where he finished on 22 darts saw the host thrower looking for a similar score.

In game five Dylan Woosley (100, 100, 22 darts/140) was too strong for Stars’ acting captain Margaret Barry (100); and the last singles also went to the Aces as Ronnie Herdman (100) had a battle on his hand to beat Brendan Flynn (95) 2-0.

PAIRS - Roy Livingstone (140, 100/100) beat Gareth Crothers and Brendan Flynn 2-0 and Dylan Woosley (100/100) and Brian Graham (138) made the score 7-1 beating Colin Crothers and Jacqui Wilson 2-0.

Kevin’s have retain their second spot in the league with this victory over the visiting Castle Bar and at the half way mark the home team were in a 4-0 lead.

Paul Dillon (100, 95/100, 100, 140) had a great game and an 18 darter. A 17 darter later left Greg Harper (100, 100, 121) needing 127 and 50.

Simon McIvor (100, 100/ 180, 100) scored his second maximum of the season and left Clifford Ritchie (100) needing 112 and 109 while John Broome (100/140) gave Kevin’s a 3-0 lead, winning the battle of the doubles to beat Gareth McGuinness (100/100, 100) 2-0.

In game four it was another doubles battle, Steven Banks (95, 95) coming out on top against Vince Conlon (97/100) who was looking 10 and 9.

After the break Andy McComb (100) and Paul Ritchie (100) were at the butts and with Andy missing his doubles Paul broke the ice for the Castle but the last singles went to Kevin’s in a close game, Neville Reid (135) beating Shane Haffey (100) 2-0.

PAIRS - Andy McComb and John Broome beat Gareth McGuinness and Paul Ritchie while Paul Dillon and Steven Banks beat Clifford Richie and Shane Haffey 2-0.

McGrath’s 4

Red Star A 4

This was a game the home team should have won after leading 4-2 but the Star never gave up and earned a share of the spoils

Ronnie Malcomson and Candy Toman were first to the oche and it was Ronnie (100, 100, 140) with good darts who took the lead with Candy (100, 100) needing 72.

But the Star thrower, after 2x100, checked out on 97 to level when Ronnie (100, 100) missed tops. Candy (100) lost his way in leg three and Ronnie (99, 100, 97) kept his form with a 40 finish.

Marty McQuaid (100) wasn’t on his usual form and was left on 150 when the in form Alan McKnight (100, 100/140, 100 - 19 darts) levelled the teams.

Cliff Taylor (123) found himself trailing after leg one to Ian Redmond (120, 95) but Ian’s finishing let him down and Cliff (100, 100) went on to make it 2-1.

At game four it was 2-2. Marty Conlon (137, 99/110) came out on top with a 2-1 win over Tom Black (140/140).

Ivan Waddell regained the lead for McGrath in a close contest with Robert McMullen and John Mooney (100) won the doubles game with Maurice Orr (97) to give his team a 4-2 lead.

PAIRS - Cliff Taylor (120) and John Mooney lost 2-0 to Alan McKnight (120/100) and Robert McMullan and Chris Malcomson and Ivan Waddell lost 2-1 to Maurice Orr and Marty Conlon (100).
