Depleted St Joseph's side earn fine win over St Ergnat's

The visitors to Chapel Hill got the game’s first score when Liam Brady split the posts with a well worked point.

Niall McCann levelled the scores with a pointed free after three minutes.

Fergal Duffin collected a misplaced pass to put the lads in blue and gold back in front.

The large crowd were treated to an all out effort from both sides that played some very entertaining football.

Niall McCann pointed a free and then Patrick Gallagher brought the sides level when he finished a well worked move with a point. Once again the sides were level when Niall McCann pointed a free.

The last score of an exciting half came from Sean O’Doherty when he pulled his side level with an excellent point to leave the score six each.

Sean O’Doherty started the second half with a point to put his side in front for the first time in the game.

One thing is certain when St.Ergnat’s play is they don’t give up easily.

When Fergal Duffin and Colum pointed from play to put their side back in front the home side knew they had to up their game.

Fergus Cunningham and Niall McCann put the home side back in front from frees. This was a lead they didn’t surrender for the remainder of the game.

Ciaran Loney extended the lead with a well worked point.

The Chapel hill side added four unanswered points from Peter Treanor, Patrick Gallagher from play and Niall McCann and Fergus Cunningham from frees.

Patrick Gallagher had the orange men’s last score to leave his side five in front as referee Jarlath O’Donnell blew the full time whistle.

On this occasion it is only fair to commend every player for putting in such a great effort for their side.
