Depleted St Joseph's side earn fine win over St Ergnat's

Both sides were short a number of regulars in Antrim Division 2 due to holidays.

Those players called up to fill the gaps didn’t let their side down.

The visitors to Chapel Hill got the game’s first score when Liam Brady split the posts with a well worked point.

Fergal Duffin collected a misplaced pass to put the lads in blue and gold back in front.

The large crowd were treated to an all out effort from both sides that played some very entertaining football.

The last score of an exciting half came from Sean O’Doherty when he pulled his side level with an excellent point to leave the score six each.

One thing is certain when St.Ergnat’s play is they don’t give up easily.

When Fergal Duffin and Colum pointed from play to put their side back in front the home side knew they had to up their game.

Fergus Cunningham and Niall McCann put the home side back in front from frees. This was a lead they didn’t surrender for the remainder of the game.

Ciaran Loney extended the lead with a well worked point.

The Chapel hill side added four unanswered points from Peter Treanor, Patrick Gallagher from play and Niall McCann and Fergus Cunningham from frees.

Patrick Gallagher had the orange men’s last score to leave his side five in front as referee Jarlath O’Donnell blew the full time whistle.

On this occasion it is only fair to commend every player for putting in such a great effort for their side.
