Town Juniors Under-15s faced Banbridge Rangers in the first local derby of the season at Cheney Park and it finished in a scoreless stalemate.

Both teams had settled quickly, however, the Juniors enjoyed an early spell of possession and pressure but couldn’t capitalise as the Rangers back four and keeper held firm.

The Juniors created chances, one of which cleared off the goal line.

The second half began still at a frantic pace with Rangers starting to gain a foothold in the game.

Frank McCartan proved to be rock solid at the heart of the Juniors defence.

Rangers grew in confidence forcing several corners and free kicks, one of which brought a great save from Town ‘keeper Conor Ward.

Juniors captain Jake Laffin continued to drive his team forward in search of a winning goal, however, it proved to be ‘one of those days’ for both sides making this a rare scoreless draw between the two local rivals.

This week’s man of the match was Adam Dickson for a great all round performance in centre back and midfield.
