Derby winsfor Swifts and Scotch

Villa Swifts maintained their impressive record over recent years in the Villa derby match but once again it was a very close encounter going all the way to the final game and even though both teams were missing key players for this fixture there was no shortage of drama here.

Scotch A’s derby match against Scotch B was a much more relaxed affair as Scotch A who look like title contenders this season eased to victory over the Scotch B playing in their first season.

There were a few surprise results this week and none more so than Social Club who earned their first win of the season with an emphatic victory over Berthas.

Sperrin also caused a bit of an upset when they defeated Hecklers who were sitting third in the league prior to this game. Tigers Bar unbeaten start to the season came to end as they fell to Sperrin Flights who are looking to improve on their less than impressive start to season.

The only other game of the night saw Kellys Inn ease to an impressive victory over Third Tree who along with Scotch B remain at the foot of the table still searching for their first points.

Once again there was no shortage of quality darts on show throughout the league with a total of twenty-two legs in 21 darts or less and four 100+ checkouts including the season’s highest checkout so far of 156 (T20,T20,D18) by Steven McCloskey (Third Tree). There was just the two 180s hit this week by Barry McLaughlin (Sperrin Flights) and Willis Kane (Berthas) although Alan McVicker (Social Club) had two scores of 177.

The best individual performance this week goes to Alan McVicker (Social Club) with what could be the performance of the season with scores of 2 x 177, 4 x100 and winning legs in 14 & 16 darts.

Other top performances of the week came from Rodney Kane (Villa) with legs in 16 & 18 darts and John Gaile (Sperrin Flights) with legs in 16 & 20 darts as well as a 110 Finish (T20, Bull).
