Derry move into pole position

CITY of Derry secured another bonus point victory, this time at Enniskillen, on Wednesday night.

The 34-5 win means the Judges Road side have now joined rivals Armagh at the top of the Ulster Qualifying League with both teams having played the same number of games.

City of Derry started brightly and were a try in front on 10 minutes courtesy of young winger Simon Logue, Mark O'Connor converted to put Derry 7 points to the good. Second row Brian Prue got in for an unconverted try on 15 minutes.

Bevan Lynch's side struggled for the remainder of the first half and Enniskillen got in for an unconverted try just before half time to leave Derry leading by 12 points to 5 points at the break.

The visitors sealed their bonus point victory 25 minutes into the second half following two try's from Centre David Funston.

Derry No 8 Stephen Corr confirmed Derry's superiority with a try with 10 minutes remaining of the half and David Fusnton completed his hat trick with a try before the finish, Mark O'Connor converted one of the second half try's to seal another victory that puts City of Derry joint top of the league for the first time this season.
