Desertmartin lose out in Cup

Desertmartin FC 0

New Buildings 4

DESERTMARTIN without four regular first team players faced an uphill battle against Newbuildings FC in the first round of the Craig Memorial Cup.

Losing Gareth McMenemy after 20 minutes through injury left young Robin Patton to carry the attack on his own up front.

The 4-0 scoreline looks like a one-sided affair but that was not the case. The Desert gave as good as they got.

However, New Buildings clinical finishing was the deciding factor in this evenly contested affair.

Desert manager Jim Scott hopes to have all his players available for the home league game against Kilbride Swifts at Dromore Park, 2pm kick off this Saturday.

Desertmartin Reserves maintained their unbeaten start to the new season. With goals from Paul Fulton and Ryan Stewart they defeated Woodlands FC 2-1 at Carrickfergus on Saturday.

This Saturday they play Ballyclare United at the Valley Centre, Newtonabbey, kick off 2pm.
