Desertmartin V Cookstown Oly

DESERTMARTIN Swifts played hosts to Cookstown Oly at Dromore Park last Friday evening looking for their first win of the season. With several of his reserve players away on first team duty, manager Trevor Junkin was aware of the difficult task ahead of him if he going to get something out of this game.

Torrential rain the day before rendered the pitch heavy in places but it didn’t deter both teams from producing a thrilling derby.

Nicky Brown gave the Swifts the lead in the 25th minute when he sqeezed the ball under the Oly keeper from close range. The Oly struck back with three quick goals from O’Neil, Devlin and a super strike from Rory Scullion to take a two goal advantage at the interval.
