Dinner brings curtain down on pool league season

The curtain came down on the playing side of the Ballymena Towers Pool League last week.

It was a season in which the balance of power shifted away from the traditional ‘big two’ of Michelin Masters and Meatballs, with the title being competed for by eventual champions Inbetweeners and Towers Tavern.

The Ballee sisde capped a great year by winning the Diamond Cup, competed for by the teams who finished in the top six positions in the league.

Five of those teams were in action and Towers finished a great year with success in this competition defeating the Meatballs in the final after a play off with Drew Sloan defeating Ryan Foster

Preliminary Round: Meatballs 4, Michelin Masters 3.

Semi-finals: Towers Tavern 4, The Inbetweeners 1; Meatballs 4, Diamond Dazzlers 2.

Final: Towers Tavern 4, Meatballs 3.

BRAID CUP

The Braid Cup, for teams who finished in the bottom half of the table, saw an entry of six teams and Fairhill Hustlers ran out winners, beating Coach in the decider.

Preliminary Round: Fairhill Hustlers 4, Diamond Duffers 1; Moat Mad Dogs 4, Social Club 2.

The league dinner takes place this Friday May 22, in the Michelin Club.
