Disability Sport NI spokesperson Aubrey Bingham said: “Although access to sports facilities for people with disabilities in Northern Ireland has improved considerably in recent years, all too often improvements have been limited to meeting the minimum requirements of the DDA and building regulations.

“I congratulate Glenravel Sports & Community Complex on moving beyond the provision of basic physical access and developing a sports facility which is truly inclusive of people with disabilities’.

Sport Northern Ireland CEO, Arthur Scott said: “The award was presented by Paralympic Gold medallist Bethany Firth who said ‘she was simply delighted to see how the centre has improved physical access, planned programmes for disabled people and trained its staff to better include disabled people in their sports and recreation programmes’.

Glenravel Sports & Community Complex Sport & Fitness Development Officer Caitriona Murray-Tate said: “We are very pleased to be receiving this award and believe that the improvements made at the complex, will enable us to encourage more people with disabilities to utilise the facility on a regular basis.”
