ARMOY kept their 100% record in the league on Saturday when they travelled to Donegal and won by an impressive 46-0.

It was, however, not as easy as the score would suggest as the home team put up a good performance in the first half, then lost their way in the second.

First to score was E Casey when good work from the pack allowed the ball to come to the backs and Casey finished off out wide after a good run down the wing and fending off several tackles.

Rodney Kerr was next on the scoresheet when he took the ball 20 metres out and barged his way over the line with good help from B Kelly.

Further tries from Stevie Bartlett and R Bartless with J Trainor converting just one try.

From the start of the second half it was all Armoy.

It was not long before S Bartlett added his second when in typical fashion crossed the line with several defenders wrapped around him but unable to stop this powerhouse after his return from injury.

Next to score was Sammy McMullan who finally scored his first try of the season much to the amusement to his mates J Trainor converted from wide out.

A penalty was awarded to Armoy on the opposition 22 and Tom Christie took a quick tap and passed to S Bartlett who was in full flight and complete with a side step he crossed over to complete a brilliant hat trick of tries and a fine individual performance.

Daniel Ramage and Vincey Scullion were unlucky not to score on several occassions but the final score went to Mark Donald as he took the ball and showed remarkable speed for a prop forward to race 20 metres and score wide out.

J Trainor converted from the sideline to make amends for some earlier misses.

With 20 minutes remaining the home team decided that they had had enough and the referee blew for the end of a very satisfactory performance from the visiting team.

This result leaves Armoy still top of the league with seven wins out of seven starts.

After the match, PRO Tom Christie said the win was perhaps the best performance of the season with all the players playing as a team and moving the ball about.

He also thanked the extra bus load of supporters who made the long journey down to support the team.

Next Saturday Armoy are at home to Rainey in the league and another tough encounter is expected so all support will be very much appreciated.
