DOUBLE CELEBRATION FOR KARATE KID KEVIN

Squad Members from the Zanshin Shotokan Karate Club, along with Chief Instructor Sensei Terry Geddis, 5th Dan (KUGB), recently travelled to Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena at the beginning of May for the KUGB National Championships.

Twelve-year-old Kevin Diamond, who achieved his black belt on April 6th in Scotland, was part of the squad. The Club is extremely proud of this dedicated young student. To achieve Black Belt level at such a young age demonstrates great skill, determination and commitment. Kevin fought his way through several rounds to secure his place in the final. It was a tough final for Kevin and he gained a 2nd place in his category and brought home a silver medal.Yasmin Geddis just missed out on the final bringing home Bronze. Yasmin is now preparing for the European and World Championships later in the year as well as going for her 3rd Dan in October.

Club training sessions on Monday – Ballysally Community Centre 7-8.30pm, Thursday – West Bann Development 4-5pm (4-11 yrs) and Saturday – Coleraine West Community Centre 1-3pm. New students are welcome all year round and after 10 sessions will receive a FREE karate suit.
