Draw a fair result in end to end clash for St Joseph's

St Joseph's played out a fair draw with Davitt's as a hard-fought match finished 1-11 all.

Played in brilliant sunshine this game was like recent games between these sides with just a kick of the ball between them.

With never more than a goal separating the sides it left the large support on their toes until the final whistle.

Fergus Cunningham got the home support on song when he split the posts in the first minute. Fergal Green added a second to give his side a cushion.

Davitt’s added four unanswered points to put themselves two point up. James Gallagher pointed a free to close the gap.

With neither side taking control of the game it became scrappy with some wild shooting and missed passes.

County player Patrick Gallagher got on the score sheet with a well taken point. With halftime approaching James Gallagher pointed a free to put Glenavy one up as the halftime whistle sounded.

The second half continued in a similar fashion. Sean O’Doherty, who was only on the pitch pointed a beauty from an acute angle. With play moving from end to end scores were hard to come by.

Aaron Slane pointed a 45 to put his side one up. James Gallagher once again brought the sides level with a point from play.

Ciaran Loney pointed what the home crowd thought was the winning score only to see the ball from the kickout go to the other end for Davitt’s to get a free. Christopher Gallagher was give the task of taking the free from an awkward angle, it proved no problem to him as he sent the ball sailing between the posts. This was the final score in a game where a draw was probably a fair result.
