Ballyclare came out determined in the second session and capitalised on some confusion in the Larne circle with an early equaliser. But, from then on, Larne kept things tight and when the final whistle went they breathed a huge sigh of relief.

Supporters on both sides enjoyed an exciting game and although Ballyclare were obviously disappointed at facing a play-off. But there is no doubt that if they play the way they did on Saturday they should be more than capable of retaining their Senior 1 status.

The Thirds travelled to Lisnagarvey for the Minor Cup final against Queen’s Thirds. It was a great occasion, especially for the younger girls.

Larne were under no illusions about the threat Queen’s posed. The students are two leagues above them and went into this game unbeaten with 86 goals to their credit.

The Larne girls put up a spirited performance but Queen’s were firmly in the driving seat with three first-half goals. Larne had chances of their own but fired shots narrowly wide of the post.
