Dromara Cycling Club to host Bishop’s Court circuit races

Dromara Cycling Club are set to host the Bishops Court circuit races this Saturday.

The location boasts a 2.1 mile circuit on 12 metre wide smooth tarmac.

There are toilets, showers on site as well as ample parking.

RACE SCHEDULE

There is a full race schedule planned with each of the six races running separately on the course.

Sign on opens at 8:00

Race 1: Under 12s Start time: 09:00 – Fee: £5

Race 2: Under 14s Start time: 09:45 – Fee: £5

Race 3: Under 16s Start time: 10:45 – Fee: £5

Race 4: Masters (over 50s) & Women Start time: 12:00 – Fee: £15

Race 5: A4 riders Start time: 13:15 – Fee £15

Race 6: A2/A3 riders Start time: 14:45 – Fee £15 (Juniors £10)

Maximum of 80 riders in the A4 race

Maximum of 80 riders in the A2/A3 race

The races will be run under Cycling Ireland rules. This race will NOT be treated as a criterium race, therefore laps cannot be skipped. Chip timing will be provided.

Youth gearing will be checked on the day.

Sign on will close 15 minutes before the start of each race.

Food will be supplied after each race.

Cycling Ireland licences must be presented at sign on. Both race numbers must be attached to your race jersey.

The facility has plenty of toilet facilities on site. Any rider caught using ‘other’ means will not be allowed to race.

Dromara CC hope to see a big crowd in attendance to enjoy what Bishopscourt has to offer.

Dromara hosted a time trial on Thursday night.

Normally the time trials are 10 miles but sometimes the club league like to go off the beaten track and go for a 16 mile time trial instead.

The fact that the first eightmiles was into a headwind fell on deaf ears as 28 riders line up to tackle the tough Ballynahinch-Hillsborough-Ballynahinch course.

There were some fantastic times produced considering the wind.

Fastest rider on the night was Gavin Magowan who stormed him with a time of 37:11. Barry Van Kellett came in second with 37:43, and Matthew Gibson rounded off the top three with a time of 38:22.

Many thanks to the marshals and timekeepers who helped out on the night, and also thanks to those who supplied the tea and biscuits to everyone after.

The next round of the club league is this Thursday night with a 10 mile time trial on the Dundrum road course in Dromara.

Sign on and parking is in the car park across from the Eurospar from 6:30pm with the first rider off at 7pm.
